The Kano Media Advocacy Network (K-MAN) commende the bold, visionary, and people-oriented initiative of the Kano State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, as the administration concludes arrangements to present the state’s first-ever ₦1 Trillion proposed budget for the 2026 fiscal year.
The Network in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Munir Ibrahim Publisher, described the budget as a “new down for the people of Kano state”.
The statement reads, “This landmark budget, once it’s approved, will stand as the largest in Kano State’s history and the first of its magnitude from any state in Northern Nigeria. It represents a defining step toward fiscal stability, economic expansion, and transformative development for the good people of Kano.
According to Munir Ibrahim Publisher, the budget prioritizes the people of the state, saying “The Governor’s development priorities reflect an intentional focus on sectors that matter most:”
He added, “K-MAN considers this epoch-making proposal a clear demonstration of the administration’s unwavering dedication to advancing the welfare, dignity, and aspirations of the people of Kano.”
He stated, “K-MAN particularly applauds the significant improvement in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and the decisive measures taken to block financial leakages, both of which have created room for such an ambitious and impactful budget.
““Governor Yusuf’s commitment to strengthening revenue systems and sealing leakages is a powerful signal of transparency, accountability, and responsible leadership,” said the K-MAN Publicity Secretary. “The ability to plan boldly stems from the government’s success in mobilizing resources efficiently and eliminating waste. This is the foundation of sustainable development.”
K-MAN urged the citizens of Kano State to rally behind this transformative agenda and remain active partners in the state’s journey toward growth and prosperity.
He said, “We also appeal to the Kano State House of Assembly to give this historic proposal the urgent and thorough legislative attention it deserves, ensuring timely passage in the interest of the state.
“This proposed ₦1 Trillion budget is more than a financial plan, it is a social contract, a vision for shared prosperity, and a declaration that Kano State is ready to take its rightful place as an economic powerhouse in Nigeria.
“K-MAN congratulates Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the government, and the entire people of Kano State on this remarkable milestone. Indeed, a new era of development has begun.”
