JUST IN: Tinubu Nominates Ismail Abba Yusuf as NAHCON Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has nominated Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), subject to Senate confirmation.

The nomination was conveyed in a letter sent on Wednesday to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, seeking expeditious approval in line with Section 3(2) of the NAHCON Act, 2006.

If confirmed, Ambassador Yusuf will replace Professor Abdullahi Usman, who resigned earlier this week after serving about 14 months in office.

Ambassador Yusuf is a career diplomat and previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Türkiye from 2021 to 2024.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on February 11, 2026.
