JUST IN: NDLEA Intercepts Cocaine-Laden Vessel From Brazil, Detains 20 Filipino Crew Members

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a vessel loaded with 20 kilogrammes of cocaine at the Apapa seaport in Lagos.

In a statement on Friday, the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said the vessel, MV Nord Bosporus (registration number 9760110), arrived Nigeria from Santos, Brazil.

According to Babafemi, NDLEA operatives discovered the consignment of Class A drugs concealed beneath the ship’s cargo on Sunday, 16 November 2025.

He said the vessel’s master, Captain Quino Eugene Corpus, along with 19 other Filipino crew members, has been taken into custody for further investigation.

Babafemi added that the agency has filed an ex-parte application before Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court, Lagos, in suit number FHC/L/MISC/1306/25, seeking an order to detain both the vessel and its crew.
