The Kano State Government has confirmed that the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, will lead this year’s Eid-el-Fitr Durbar as part of approved arrangements for the Sallah celebrations.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Commissioner of Information, Ibrahim Waiya, the government said the Hawan Idi procession would commence from Kofar Mata Eid Praying Ground and proceed through designated routes to the Emir’s Palace.
The announcement comes amid heightened security concerns, with the government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf warning of attempts by some individuals to disrupt peace during the festivities.
While reaffirming its commitment to preserving Kano’s cultural heritage, the government said maintaining law and order remains its top priority.
As part of the measures, Hawan Nasarawa will hold in a modified form without horseback riding, while Hawan Daushe, Hawan Fanisau, and Hawan Dorayi have been suspended to ensure public safety.
Security agencies have been directed to intensify surveillance and enforce compliance with the guidelines before, during, and after the celebrations.
Residents were urged to remain law-abiding, cooperate with security operatives, and avoid spreading unverified information, as the government assured of a peaceful Eid celebration.
