A suspected car thief reportedly sneaked into the Kano State Government House and disappeared with a Toyota Hilux van belonging to the deputy governor’s convoy.
The suspect allegedly gained access to the Government House through Gate 4 and later exited through the main gate unnoticed.
According sources at the Government House, CCTV footage reviewed after the incident confirmed that the suspect drove out of the premises using the main gate.
It was further gathered that the office complex of the deputy governor is usually patrolled only during working hours or when he is on the premises.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, identified as Shafiu Sharp-Sharp, was said to have been interrogated and briefly detained by security operatives.
“An investigation has already been launched. The driver is being questioned, while the Chief Security Officer is reviewing the CCTV footage. The vehicle’s description has also been circulated to security agencies to track it down and arrest the suspect,” a source said.
Efforts to reach the spokesman of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, for comments were unsuccessful, as he neither answered calls nor responded to messages sent to him.
