According to him, officers from the Hisbah Motor Parks Operations Unit acted swiftly after receiving a tip-off, leading to the interception of the suspect named Abubakar Adodo, at a motor park in Kano.
The victims, identified as 22-year-old Hajara Ismail from Funtua and 33-year-old Bilkisu Haruna from Kofar Marusa, were reportedly on their way to Lagos and are believed to be part of a planned route to Somalia through Benin Republic.
Sheikh Abubakar said the prompt intervention of Hisbah officials thwarted the illegal journey and ensured the women’s safety.
He added that both the suspect and the victims have been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation and prosecution.
