EFCC Arrests Suspects Over N603m Scam Promising NNPC GMD Job

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned two suspects for allegedly swindling N603.4 million from Oluseye Yomi-Sholoye, claiming they could secure her appointment as Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

The suspects, Gidado Ibrahim and Halimat Adenike Tejusho—currently at large—were arraigned on Monday at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama on an amended six-count charge of fraud and obtaining money by false pretence.

They are accused of forging a document titled “Presidential Villa State House, OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER” and using it to collect the money, knowing the promise of securing the NNPC job was false.

Ibrahim pleaded not guilty. The prosecution requested a trial date and that he be remanded in a correctional facility, while his lawyer asked for him to remain in EFCC custody due to health concerns pending bail.

Trial judge H. Muazu adjourned the case to February 17, 2026, for the hearing of the bail application and ordered Ibrahim remanded at Kuje Correctional Facility.
