DSS Rescues 5-Year-Old Kidnap Victim, Arrests Suspect in Minjibir

The Department of State Services (DSS), Kano Command, successfully rescued a five-year-old boy, Muhammad Haruna, from kidnappers in Danzaki Village, Minjibir Local Government Area.

The rescue operation, conducted at about 7:40 PM on Thursday, followed a formal report that the minor had been abducted and that the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of fifteen million Naira (₦15,000,000).

During the operation, DSS operatives apprehended Aminu Mukhtar (20yrs), a suspected kidnapper, while he was negotiating the ransom with the boy’s father via a mobile phone. Mukhtar later admitted to abducting the child with the intention of collecting ransom.

Both the suspect and the rescued child are currently in the custody of the DSS for further investigation. Authorities have released a photograph of the victim as part of the ongoing follow-up.

The DSS continues to urge community members to report any suspicious activities to help combat kidnapping and ensure the safety of children.
