BREAKING: Gov Diri quits PDP

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor’s spokesman, Daniel Alabrah, who announced this in post in his verified Facebook handle, did not give detail on why the governor resigned from PDP.

Though, he did not state if the governor is joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or the African Democratic Party (ADC).

Daily Trust gathered Governor Diri who is currently addressing state executive members, told relate the information to them.

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere is also attending the meeting.

Few hours ago, Governor Diri and former President Goodluck Jonathan, had attended the commissioning of the Best Western Plus hotel in Yenagoa.

Also, all the PDP members in the State House of Assembly, Commissioners in the State Executive Council have all resigned their membership of the party.

Governor Diri, had served as the Commissioner in PDP led government in the state under Goodluck Jonathan as Governor, he was also the Principal Secretary to then Governor Seriake Dickson, who is his predecessor.

Diri, was elected as the House of Representatives member in 2015 under PDP, and in 2019, he was elected as a Senator for Bayelsa Central and elected as Governor of the state in 2020 and re-elected in 2023 under PDP.
