BREAKING: Council of State Approves Amupitan as New INEC Chairman

The National Council of State has approved the nomination of Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN) from the North-Central region as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, announced this in a statement on Thursday.

President Tinubu was quoted as saying that Amupitan, a native of Ayetoro Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, is the first person from the North-Central state to be nominated for the position. He described the nominee as “apolitical and eminently qualified.”

The Council unanimously endorsed the nomination, with Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo describing Amupitan as “a man of integrity.”
