Bandits sign peace pact with 3 more Katsina LGAs

Bandits have entered entered into a peace accord with three local government areas of Katsina State.

The local governments include Malumfashi, Funtua, and Bakori.

Part of the efforts, according to stakeholders, is to curb persistent attacks, killings, and abductions.

The signing of the peace initiative was held in the Kakumi community of Bakori Local Government Area.

Bandit representatives and community delegates from the three LGAs attended the event.

Community sources revealed that the discussions yielded a significant breakthrough, as several bandit leaders reportedly pledged to suspend hostilities and halt all forms of attacks within the participating areas beginning Sunday, October 12.

Traditional rulers, community elders, and security operatives attended the peace meeting and urged all parties to honour the agreement in the interest of lasting stability.

So far, several other local government areas — including Batsari, Kankara, Kurfi, Musawa, Danmusa, Jibia, Faskari, Sabuwa, and Dandume — have also entered similar peace deals with bandits.
