The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of an armed bandit group and intensified security operations in parts of the state.
Police spokesperson in Kano, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement.
Recall that the community raised alarmed recently over incessant bandit attacks.
However, in a statement Kiyawa said that the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated operation by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and the Shanono Division around 2:00 a.m. on October 24, 2025.
He said the operation followed credible intelligence from residents of the Farin Ruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area, who alerted security personnel about suspicious movements linked to possible bandit infiltration.

He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the residents for their vigilance and assured that investigations were ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
In a related development, the command said it had increased security presence in Barebari Ward of Makoda Local Government Area following recent clashes between herders and farmers.
The Commissioner of Police, who convened a peace meeting with community stakeholders, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order, urging residents to continue cooperating with security agencies to sustain peace across the state.
