The Executive Committee of the Abaji North East Ward of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the suspension of Hon. Abdulrahman Ajiya Abayaro, member representing Abuja South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, over alleged anti-party activities and misconduct.
Speaking at a press conference, the North East Ward Chairman, Alhaji Suleiman Kyara, said the ward leadership observed with concern that some executives and elected officials from the ward were allegedly engaging in activities contrary to the interests and directives of the party.
Kyara alleged that on several occasions, the party formally invited elected representatives from Abuja South under the APC platform to official programmes, but they consistently declined to honour the invitations.
He further claimed that some members worked against the party’s success during the last FCT Area Council elections, including the North East Ward councillor, Kasimu Ibrahim.
Also speaking, the ward APC Secretary, Comrade Mohammed Baba Abubakar, said the decision to suspend the lawmaker followed deliberations at the Ward Executive Council meeting held on February 25, 2026.
According to him, Hon. Ajiya Abayaro was formally invited to appear before the Ward Disciplinary Committee through a letter dated July 29, 2025, but he failed to honour the invitation.
He stated that after reviewing the matter and in line with the provisions of the APC Constitution (as amended), particularly Article 21:5(a), 21:5(c) and 21:5(e), the Ward Executive resolved to suspend the lawmaker from the party.
A total of 22 ward executives unanimously approved the suspension, the secretary added.
