Troops Arrest Suspected ISWAP Informant Over Planned Attack in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected informant linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) over an alleged plot to attack military formations in Borno State.

The suspect, identified as Muhammad Shuaibu, was apprehended by troops of the 212 Battalion at the Forward Operating Base in Chabbol following intelligence reports indicating an impending terrorist attack.

According to military sources, the suspect was arrested during a routine patrol conducted near the protective perimeter surrounding the military base.

Preliminary investigations reportedly linked Shuaibu to a planned attack on the 199 Special Forces Battalion, popularly known as Mosquito Camp, as well as the Forward Operating Base in Chabbol.

Security sources said the suspect allegedly admitted during interrogation that the attack had been planned and claimed that the terrorists intended to proceed with the operation despite his arrest.

The military said the arrest enabled troops to strengthen security measures around the targeted formations and reinforce defensive positions against any possible attack.

The suspect has since been handed over to the 7 Military Intelligence Brigade for further investigation.

The arrest forms part of ongoing intelligence-driven operations by Operation Hadin Kai aimed at disrupting terrorist activities, dismantling insurgent networks, and improving security across Nigeria’s North-East region.
