A woman, Hafsatu Yusuf, has successfully delivered quintuplets at the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano, drawing attention to the rare birth and the challenges that come with it.
The Kano State Government has since stepped in to take full responsibility for the medical care of both the mother and her five newborns, ensuring they receive adequate treatment and monitoring.
Hafsatu’s husband, Malam Salisu Nufi’u, a tricycle rider popularly known as an Adaidaita Sahu operator, expressed deep appreciation for the government’s intervention, noting that the support came at a critical time for the family.
Medical sources at the hospital confirmed that the mother and her babies are currently under close supervision by a team of healthcare professionals to ensure their stability and well-being.
Quintuplet births are extremely rare and often require intensive medical attention, both during and after delivery, due to the high risks involved for both the mother and the babies.
The state government said its intervention is part of broader efforts to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services, with a focus on reducing mortality rates and supporting vulnerable families.
Authorities also reaffirmed their commitment to improving access to quality healthcare across Kano State, particularly for low-income households.
