The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, signalling the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.

He urged Muslims to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice imbibed during the holy month.

Tunji-Ojo also called on Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the nation’s peace, unity, and prosperity.

While wishing Muslims a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration, he encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence among all Nigerians.
