Shettima, Barau, others receive Taraba Gov into APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday officially welcomed Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, into the party following his defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking in Jalingo, the state capital, Vice President Kashim Shettima praised the governor for his leadership, saying he is doing well for his people and that the nation is proud of him.

He commended the governor’s inclusivity and development drive, which he said demonstrated his understanding of the state’s diversity.

“We are very proud of Governor Agbu Kefas for his sense of inclusivity and development. He shows clear understanding of the diversity of Taraba State and is working hard to ensure that the State remains united despite the differences.”

He added that the APC was built as a meeting point for Nigerians and expressed hope that Adamawa and Bauchi states would soon join the party.

The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwada, also lauded Kefas’ move, noting that his decision to join the ruling party would help in harnessing the full potential of the state.

“Both old and new members have equal rights and equal opportunities. We stand for unity and expect you, the leader of the party, to unite everyone into one indivisible and indestructible party.”

In his address, Governor Kefas lauded the leadership of the APC and assured Taraba people that his decision was for their benefit.

“We would not dwell on the past but will work to redefine the future that we all desire for ourselves and our children and generations to come.” the governor stated.
