Kebbi State Police Command said it has arrested a suspected kidnapper and rescued two victims in Kalgo and Dandi Local Government Areas of the State.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said one of the victims, identified as Alhaji Juli Muhammad, aged 55, was abducted from his home in Kokani Village, Kalgo LGA, and chained before being taken into the bush.
Another victim, 50-year-old Garba Bachal, was kidnapped in Maigwaza Village, Dandi.
“Based on credible intelligence, officers from Kalgo and Kamba divisions, in collaboration with local vigilante group, rescued the victims unharmed and arrested one of the suspects, Umar Usman, from Augie Fadama Area of the State,” SP Usman said.
He added that the suspects fled upon sighting the police, allowing the victims to be rescued safely.
Garba Bachal was taken to Maigwaza Hospital, where he is now recovering.
SP Usman assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects, adding that the operation reflects the command’s intelligence-driven, proactive approach, focusing on rapid response, strategic coordination, and protection of lives and property.
