Milling machine kills mother of six in Gombe

A 32-year-old mother of six, Hauwau Abubakar, died at a rice mill in Tumu community, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.

The incident occurred on Sunday around 10.30am.

The deceased was at the company to  purchase rice from a miller identified as Muhammad Danjuma.

According to the Gombe State Police Command, Hauwau’s flowing garment became entangled in the rotating belt of the milling machine.

She was pulled her into the machine and causing a fatal neck injury.

She was rushed to the Cottage Hospital in Tumu, where a doctor confirmed her death.

Her remains were later released to her family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, commiserated with the bereaved family and the entire Tumu community, describing the incident as a painful loss.

However, the Police Command has urged mill operators, workers, and traders to strictly observe safety measures when operating milling machines and grinding equipment.
