The Kwankwasiyya Movement has dismissed reports circulating on social media that its leader, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, travelled abroad to seek medical attention.
THR News reports that the rumour, which gained traction on Thursday, claimed that the former governor of Kano State embarked on a medical trip overseas following the political crisis between him and his former protégé, the incumbent governor of the state, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Reacting swiftly, the movement’s spokesperson, Mansur Kurugu, described the claim as baseless and mischievous.
In a terse statement issued in Kano on Thursday, Kurugu clarified that Kwankwaso’s trip was for personal reasons and had no connection to his health.
“Good afternoon and thank you for reaching out. Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso departed Nigeria for a personal reason,” the statement read.
“It is not for medical tourism or any health-related purpose.”
