In a major political shift, four senators have officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
During a plenary session, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read letters from the defecting senators. Senator Aminu Iya Abbas of Adamawa Central, Senator Amos Yohanna of Adamawa North, and Senator Ikra Aliyu Bilbis of Zamfara North all formally aligned with APC.
Earlier, on Tuesday, March 10, Senator Ipalibo Harry Banigo of Rivers West also defected from PDP to APC, marking the fourth lawmaker to make the switch.
The move is seen as a significant gain for the ruling party ahead of upcoming political contests.
