Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, on Tuesday presented a N897.86 billion 2026 budget to the State House of Assembly, with the education sector receiving the largest allocation.
Tagged the “Budget of Transformation,” it comprises N167.72 billion (18.68%) for recurrent expenditure and N730.14 billion (81.32%) for capital projects — a 29.7% increase from the 2025 budget.
Radda said the state expects N577.72 billion in revenues, including N489.14 billion from FAAC and N88.58 billion in internally generated revenue.
The Ministry of Basic, Secondary and Higher Education tops the allocation with N156.30 billion (17.41%), followed by Works, Housing and Transport with N117.18 billion (13.05%), Agriculture and Livestock Development with N78.63 billion (8.76%), Health with N67.55 billion (7.52%), Water Resources with N62.85 billion (7.00%), and Environment with N53.86 billion (6.00%).

These six sectors together account for nearly 60% of the total budget. Radda said the allocations reflect his administration’s focus on human capital development, infrastructure, and social welfare.
Speaker of the Assembly, Nasir Yahaya Daura, commended the governor’s “fiscal discipline and visionary leadership,” assuring that lawmakers would scrutinize the budget to ensure it aligns with the Building Your Future blueprint.
He pledged speedy passage and reaffirmed the Assembly’s endorsement of Radda as the APC’s governorship candidate for 2027.
