BUK Probes Alleged Online Misconduct Involving Student

The management of Bayero University Kano (BUK) has announced the commencement of a preliminary investigation into allegations of online impersonation and financial misconduct reportedly involving one of its students.

In a press statement issued by the university’s Director of Public Affairs, Lamara Garba, the institution said it had taken note of claims circulating in public commentary and on social media linking a person said to be a BUK student to the alleged misconduct.

The university emphasised that it maintains strict standards of discipline, conduct, and character for all students throughout their period of study, adding that any behaviour capable of tarnishing the institution’s reputation is treated with utmost seriousness.

BUK, however, noted that the personal actions of any individual student do not represent the values or character of the university as an institution.

According to the statement, the appropriate university authorities have begun reviewing the matter in line with established rules and disciplinary procedures governing students’ conduct in order to ascertain the facts surrounding the allegations.

The management also commended the public-spirited efforts of Farooq Kperogi and other individuals who support students in need by assisting with registration fees and other educational expenses.

It assured members of the public that if the allegations are substantiated, appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken in accordance with the university’s regulations and applicable laws.

The institution further urged the public to allow the investigative process to run its course and to refrain from speculation or sharing unverified information.
