Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has expelled no fewer than 60 students drawn from various departments for their involvement in examination malpractice, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to upholding academic standards.
The decision was taken at the university’s 43rd statutory Senate meeting held on January 7, 2026, after a thorough consideration of reports and recommendations submitted by relevant academic and disciplinary committees.
The development was disclosed in an official announcement published on BUK’s verified Facebook page, where the management stated that the affected students were found guilty of breaching the university’s examination rules and regulations.
According to the statement, the Senate carefully reviewed each case before approving the expulsions in line with existing regulations.
“After reviewing the cases, the Senate approved the expulsion of the students in accordance with the university’s examination regulations,” the statement read.
BUK reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on examination misconduct, stressing that strict sanctions would continue to be enforced to deter future violations.
The university further warned that any form of examination malpractice would attract severe consequences, regardless of a student’s status or department, while reaffirming its resolve to maintain academic integrity and discipline across the institution.
