A loyalist of President Bola Tinubu has criticised what he described as ongoing political plots aimed at unseating the President, describing such moves as self-serving and detrimental to Nigeria’s democratic stability.
Speaking with journalists on Thursday in Bauchi over recent political developments, the chieftain, Darazo, said attempts to gang up against President Tinubu for personal or sectional interests amounted to a political crime against Nigerians who freely gave him a constitutional mandate through the ballot.
According to him, opposition driven by personal ambition rather than national interest undermines democracy and disrespects the will of the masses.
“Plotting against President Tinubu for selfish interests is a political crime that the masses will not forgive,” he said.
He added, “Democracy allows for constructive criticism, but it does not permit conspiracies designed to hijack the people’s mandate.”
Darazo stressed that President Tinubu should be allowed the political space to implement reforms targeted at stabilising the economy, strengthening institutions and improving national cohesion.
He noted that premature power struggles distract from governance and weaken public confidence in the democratic process.
The chieftain further called on political leaders to embrace issue-based engagement and support initiatives that promote national development rather than fuelling divisions for personal gain.
“The Nigerian people are watching closely. History will judge those who place personal ambition above the collective interest of the nation,” he said.
He also urged citizens, particularly youths, to remain vigilant and resist narratives capable of destabilising the country, insisting that sustainable progress could only be achieved through respect for democratic institutions and the rule of law.
