The Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Samaila Bagudo, has been abducted by suspected bandits.

Police authorities confirmed that the lawmaker was kidnapped in his hometown in Bagudo Local Government Area shortly after observing the Isha’i prayers on Friday, October 31, 2025, at about 8:20 p.m.

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, a combined team of police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes has been deployed to the area to rescue the lawmaker.

“The joint security forces are currently combing suspected bandits’ routes and surrounding forests in an effort to rescue the lawmaker unhurt and apprehend those responsible for the attack,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police condemned the abduction, describing it as a “dastardly act that will not go unpunished,” and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

He also urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and to provide useful information that could assist in the ongoing rescue operation.
