7 pupils injured, as explosion rocks Benue school

Seven pupils have were said to have been injured in an explosion at LGEA Primary School, Ater, in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
Locals said that the incident occurred on Tuesday.
They said that the victims picked up an object they found around the school premises, which later exploded.
A source said that the explosive device involved in the incident may have been inadvertently left behind during a military operation aimed at targeting bandits in the area.
The Benue Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Udeme Edet, confirmed the incident to our source.
He said that an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was immediately deployed to assess the environment.
